District Crime Records Bureau is functioned from 01.10.1989 VIDE NO.(MS) NO. 69/89- HOME. DATED: 08.05.1989. The office of the DCRB, Ernakulam Rural,Aluva functioning in new building near Aluva Traffic Police Station Building Number 256(12) in ward number 13 Aluva Municipality. District Crime Records Bureau is headed by one Deputy Superintendent of Police who is also nodal officer of Crime & Criminal Tracking Network & System (CCTNS), School Protection Group and Student Police Cadet.

Collection, Analysis and Dissemination of the crime data and rendering expert advice to Police Stations is the core function of the District Crime Records Bureau. DCRB has direct supervision on the functioning of the District Computer Cell, District Cyber Cell, Finger Print Bureau, Official photographer and the Scientific Assistant and they visit the scenes of crime in important cases with the mobile laboratory vehicle and expert advice.

The Single Digit Finger Print Bureau and Photographic Bureau attached to this office are functioning in this building.Office of the scientific Assistant is functioning at Armed Reserve Camp, Kalamassery
